In welcoming a new child into your family, humanists celebrate the continuation of life and humankind. We rejoice that your child is born into your loving family and your community of friends.

You may wish to express your joy by holding a naming ceremony as a formal moment of celebration of his or her uniqueness. We would welcome the opportunity to meet with you to plan this recognition.

Whether creating a time capsule/memory box, lighting of candles, the giving of a flower symbolizing the beauty of life, there are many traditions that you can incorporate into your event.   Your service can include family and friends as honorary guardians, sponsors or supporting adults. You will formalize the naming ceremony with the signing of the naming certificate along with your child's mentors.
